Expert therapy for PTSD , complex trauma and dissociative disorders
Welcome! I am a Registered Nurse, Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Nurse Psychotherapist, with thirty five years of clinical experience. My extensive clinical background enables me to provide comprehensive support for those struggling with trauma, complex trauma, dissociative conditions, identity and chronic health conditions.
I hold specialist certification in trauma-informed and trauma-focused therapy that incorporates neuroscience principles, and a culturally competent, person-centred approach. Each session is tailored to your unique needs. My goal is to help clients understand and manage their trauma and/or dissociative symptoms, and live a full life.
I not only work with trauma, but have experienced it in my own life. Auto-immune disease resulted in my liver transplant in 2022, and I have walked the path to healing PTSD myself.
I offer virtual therapy services to residents of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut
My practice is a welcoming and affirming space for everyone—including members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Indigenous peoples, people from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, any gender identity, and all kinds of relationships. I understand that seeking help takes courage, especially when your identity or lived experience has not always been respected or valued. Here, you are accepted fully and treated with dignity, warmth, and respect. I am committed to providing trauma-informed care that honours your uniqueness, safeguards your privacy, and supports you in feeling seen, heard, and safe. Your story matters, and you are always welcome just as you are. I am a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
CULTURE & WELLNESS: I know that the challenges we face often come from larger societal forces—making it hard to express ourselves freely, causing burnout, and sometimes leaving us feeling disconnected from who we are. My approach is rooted in awareness of these pressures and the impact of marginalization, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of social exclusion. I am a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
EVIDENCE BASED CARE: My therapy is guided by proven approaches that are backed by scientific research and clinical experience. Every strategy and technique I use has been shown to help people heal and grow. This ensures your care is not only compassionate and personalized, but also effective and grounded in the latest psychological knowledge.
NON-PATHOLOGIZING CARE: I offer non-pathologizing care, which means I see you as a whole person—not a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. My approach is based on understanding your experiences in the context of your life, focusing on strengths and resilience rather than labeling you. Together, we explore challenges with compassion and respect, honouring your story and individuality. You are not defined by difficulties; you are met with acceptance, support, and a commitment to helping you thrive.
Trauma therapy is not about re-living your traumas.
As a trauma therapist, my role is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can begin to work through difficult life experiences. When we go through something deeply distressing, our feelings and memories can sometimes become tangled and show up as different “parts” of ourselves—each with its own emotions, thoughts, and ways of coping. Healing starts with understanding what trauma does to the body and nervous system. Trauma is a normal response to abnormal events or prolonged difficult circumstances. Together, we will explore how trauma may be affecting you and why certain reactions—like spacing out (dissociation) or feeling overwhelmed by emotions—are actually protective responses. We will practice strategies to help you feel more grounded, calm, and in control, such as grounding techniques and self‑compassion practices. Our work will move at your pace, with a focus on building safety and confidence as you take steps toward healing.
Trauma is not what happened to you - it is how it impacted your nervous system.
Trauma is not just the event itself, but how overwhelming and distressing it feels. Trauma happens when something—like an accident, illness, violence, persistent abuse, or a sudden loss—shakes your sense of safety or control and leaves you feeling deeply threatened or helpless. Trauma also includes the things that should have happened but didn't - like protection, love, support, understanding and belonging. These events challenge your ability to cope and can affect your emotions, body, and even your beliefs about the world. Each person responds differently: an event that feels life-changingly upsetting for one person might not have the same impact on another. Trauma is a normal human reaction to abnormal circumstances; what truly matters is recognizing how these experiences affect you and knowing that support and healing are possible if you’re struggling to move forward.

Dissociation occurs when a person feels disconnected from their thoughts, feelings, memories, or sense of identity in ways that can impact daily life. These conditions often develop after distressing or traumatic experiences and may cause you to feel as if you’re outside your body, forget important parts of your past, or notice changes in how you see yourself and the world around you. Sometimes, people may experience different “parts” or whole identities, memory gaps, or feel that people and things seem unreal or distant. Dissociative conditions vary from brief episodes to ongoing states, and are the mind’s way to cope with overwhelming stress. My therapy does not involve 'integration' - it focuses on helping you understand what’s happening, celebrating your will to survive, and to work towards greater connection, stability, and wellbeing.

Every person is unique — and so is their therapy. My aim is for you to feel truly seen, heard, validated, and supported. Therapy with me is not about repeatedly re‑telling painful stories; it’s about gently exploring the impact of what has happened in your life — and also the absence of experiences you needed but did not have.
I see therapy as two human beings working together, finding meaningful and personal solutions to life’s challenges. I draw on an integrative approach that blends Narrative Therapy, neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory, and Trauma‑Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST). I am professionally certified as a Narrative Therapist and a Trauma Therapist. Understanding how your nervous system works is an important part of learning how to heal it.
For clients who experience dissociation or multiplicity, my focus is never on forcing integration, but on fostering collaboration between parts, so your daily life feels more grounded, cohesive, and manageable. All parts and alters are welcome in our therapy space.
Warmth, compassion, and humour are central to my work. I bring my full self to the therapy space — not as a blank canvas, but as a fellow human being with my own complexities. Having walked through PTSD myself, I hold deep respect for the courage it takes to be in this process.
